Video Demo - Korg PolySix

Made in 1981, the Korg PolySix was one of the very first commercially available (and affordable) polysynths. With six voices and one oscillator per voice, the PolySix has a thick analog sound in addition to a built in chorus, phaser, and ensemble mode.

This video demo exhibits the oscillator, suboscillator, great sounding filter, LFO modulation, and built in effects.

Bob Moog - 2002 Interview pt. 3

The final installment of Bob Moog's 2002 interview explains Bob's evolving relationship with musicians throughout the 60's and 70's, including Gershon Kingsley. It also explores the fundamental difference between analog and digital from an engineer's standpoint, as well as concepts like patch saving and why pitch drift was so common in the early Moog synthesizers.

Part 2 of this Bob Moog interview explains the increased interest in synthesizers caused by the Switched On Bach album and describes the infamous Moog concert at the NYC Museum of Modern Art's "Jazz In Garden" series, where the performance was ultimately stopped by a girl who accidentally knocked the power strip out of the garden's olnly electrical socket.

Video Demo - Alesis Andromeda A6 pt. 2

Here is a continuation of the informational demo in the last post, brought to you by GearWire. This one goes a bit more in depth with tuning controls, pulse width modulation, and frequency modulation.

Video Demo - Alesis Andromeda A6

The Alesis Andromeda A6 was one of the most enticing synths I saw in the past decade. Sporting 16 voices (2 VCOs per voice), the Andromedais a 61-key digitally controlled analog synth with 2 analog filters per voice.

The A6's 3 LFOs can be set to any of 6 different waveforms, and external audio can be routed through the filters. The best part: 72 knobs and 114 buttons are on the front panel.

Check out these video demos. The first one from GearWire is more explanatory:

And this one is a bit more auditory:
